Still from 'Silver Linings Playbook' with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper

Miramax has won the bid to option the motion picture rights to the latest novel from "The Silver Linings Playbook" author Matthew Quick.

Quick has been tapped to adapt the screenplay from his book "The Reason You're Alive", with producer Allison Shearmur ("Cinderella" and the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story") attached to bring the project to life.

The novel will be published next year by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, with the storyline focused on David Granger, a Vietnam war veteran who after having brain surgery, must atone for a decades-old injustice in order to reconnect with his peace-loving art dealer son (via Deadline).

David Thwaites is set to oversee development and production for MIRAMAX. With Stephen Meinen to supervise development and production for Allison Shearmur Productions.
