Miriam Yeung won't apologise for cheering medical staff

5 Feb – Miriam Yeung is not apologising for being involved in a video campaign to cheer on medical professionals.

As reported on Mingpao, the Hospital Authority recently drew flak from netizens after uploading six clips featuring celebrities like Miriam Yeung, Kelly Chen, and Alan Tam cheering on medical staff to thank them for their hard work amid peak flu season.

Many joked that the Hospital Authority is being senseless in thinking that these medical staff will be relieved to receive encouragement from stars who would probably opt to go to private medical centres rather than the public hospitals.

Speaking to the media about the issue, Miriam stated that she didn't hesitate at all when invited to shoot the video, adding that she was happy to cheer on these medical professionals.

"I also shot a video to cheer on the firefighters before, when they celebrated their 150th anniversary," she said.

Miriam also revealed that she used to be a nurse, and thus understand the stress of working in a hospital.

"Not everybody would understand things like taking care of 50 patients on one shift. I understand that pain, and so my goal is to cheer them on, for people to understand them and thank them for their hard work. They deserve it," she said.
