Modasta raises US$1.5M funding to provide health-related content online to Indians

Modasta delivers authenticated content in the form of articles, videos and audios contributed by doctors and health experts and consumer health forums.

Modasta, an India-focused health content portal, has raises US$1.5 million in funding from a consortium of Mauritius-based high net-worth individuals (HNIs).

The funds have been allocated for business growth, technology upgradation, talent acquisition and marketing outreach activities, as per an official statement.

Founded in 2015, Bangalore-based Modasta is a digital healthcare platform that provides credible, multi-lingual medical and health-related information to Indian health seekers. Modasta delivers authenticated content in the form of articles, videos and audios contributed by doctors and health experts and consumer health forums.

The platform, which claims to have bagged over one million registered users within three months of launch, offers multi-lingual health content curated by Indian doctors. The content is currently available in English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

In addition, the site also offers health forums to exchange knowledge and experiences. The startup will also be expanding its range of offerings to include tele-health, comprising online doctor consultation services.

Modasta has currently employed 50 people comprising doctors, developers, sales and marketing personnel.

Barman said: “The healthcare industry is witnessing a robust growth trajectory, and at Modasta, we are aiming for a large slice of this lucrative US$280 billion industry. As the first of its kind initiative in India, Modasta will service the length and breadth of the country with pertinent content on a plethora of subjects from lifestyle diseases, mental health, women’s health, men’s health, sexual health and paediatrics amongst others.”
