Myanmar-based travel portal FlyMya, which is registered in Singapore, has acquired smaller rival Go-Myanmar.com for an undisclosed amount.

Both companies are located in Yangon.

“Go-Myanmar.com is one of the best known brands in Myanmar travel, as well as a trusted source of information for hundreds of thousands of people every year planning and booking their trip to Myanmar,” said Mike Than Tun Win, CEO of FlyMya.

Marcus Allender, Founder of Go-Myanmar.com, said: “The synergies are clear: Go-Myanmar.com’s content and online profile combined with FlyMya’s technical capabilities, experienced team and willingness to invest in an online travel future make for a perfect fit.”

Established in 2012, Go-Myanmar.com was created with the goal of simplifying the discovery of Myanmar as a travel destination. Its founder, Marcus Allender, spent a month travelling in Myanmar in 2010, and fell in love with its stunning scenery, rich culture and people. He found that solid, up-to-the-minute information on destinations about where to stay and how to get around was very difficult to come by, and that even the latest print travel guides were out of date in such a fast-changing country.
