Rain or Shine’s Beau Belga owns one of the best shot fakes in the PBA. The burly center usually executes it from beyond the arc, since he can knock down the three with regularity and his defender has no choice but to come out and challenge it.

Tuesday night against the Shanghai Sharks, Belga performed one of his most memorable shot fakes ever at the expense of Sharks guard Zhang Yuan.

Late in the fourth quarter of the PBA Selection’s game against the visiting Sharks, Belga camped out near the top of the arc. After receiving a pass, he went into his usual motion of faking a three-point shot. Zhang rushed out to challenge it, and bit into the fake. Only instead of jumping up to distract Belga, Zhang turned his back to face the hoop, thinking Belga had already released the ball.

There were a few humorous seconds as the bewildered Zhang looked around, not knowing where the ball was. He whirled around to see Belga already dribbling towards the basket. But the big man himself was so surprised by Zhang’s move that he himself didn’t know what to do. Instead he passed the ball to a teammate.

By this time, the fans at the Smart Araneta Coliseum were laughing at the hilarious sequence. After the game, Chris Tiu tweeted about the incident and Belga good-naturedly replied:

Video of the move is still unavailable since the game itself will only be televised this Saturday. But it's worth the wait.
