With restaurants, bars and more boasting of months-long reservations, especially the more popular restaurants – it's truly a sign that things are well and on their way to normalcy. A good indication is the new alcohol launches that are coming fast and furious into Singapore's market.
And it's not just us trying to convince you to buy anything – many of the more coveted collections featured here are already sold out, or going to! Still, for any self-respecting alcohol enthusiast (I kid, I kid), one should be in the know about these new releases.
Let us all raise a toast (or two, maybe three) with these new alcohol releases.
*Please drink responsibly
The heat's turning up in Singapore, so it's a great time really to introduce something light and easy to drink in this hot and humid weather. Heineken Silver has just launched in Singapore, crafted as a lower-alcohol, less bitter spin-off of the regular Heineken. The brewing giant's new lager (4% abv) uses an “ice-cold brewing process” to create a significantly less bitter taste than the brand's core lager and a “lighter drinking profile”.
A smoky variation of Plantation's Stiggins' Fancy, which is made with delicious rum, infused with Victoria pineapple, and now given a finishing period in Teeling Blackpitts casks, a peated Irish single malt whiskey offers up an intriguing balance of sweetness and smokiness.
Not exactly a new launch, but I had the chance to go to the distillery in Swan Valley recently to try this gin out and was blown away by the various gin flavour. They're always coming up with new profiles, but can be hard to find outside of Australia.
Also from the same company, Limeburners' Heavily Peated Darkest Winter whisky, which was produced in Albany, collected the trophy for 2017's best International Whisky in the World at the American Distilling Institute's annual spirits awards in Baltimore. Limeburners whiskies are also available on Amazon and Lazada.
Despite being small craft distilleries in Western Australia, the Limeburners and Giniversity alcohol are certainly brands to look out for!
The Grand series is a celebration of three special single malts from Glenfiddich designed to elevate occasions and celebratory moments.
21 Year Old Gran Reserva Rum Cask Finish: Mellowed for 21 years in meticulously selected American and European oak casks and finished for six months in Caribbean Rum casks, the liquid builds to a crescendo of sweet toffee and spicy exotic warmth.
23 Year Old Grand Cru: Matured for 23 years in hand-selected oak casks, the exceptional liquid is finished in rare French cuvée casks for six months – the first and only Glenfiddich expression to be finished in such casks.
26 Year Old Grande Couronne Cognac Finish: Already out of stock in many places, the Grande Couronne is the piece de resistance of the Glenfiddich Grand Series. This whisky is aged for 26 years before receiving an extended finish of two years in rare French cognac casks. Unveiling exquisite layers of sweet toasted oak and velvety aromas, this collection has received raving reviews from whisky enthusiasts.

Hailing from the same Suntory Osaka plant that produced the popular Roku Gin in 2017, SUI 翆 is Suntory’s most popular gin creation in Japan yet. SUI 翆 is distilled from the combination of eight traditional botanicals – juniper berry, coriander seed, angelica root, cardamom, cinnamon, bitter orange peel and lemon peel – but its signature Japanese flair is showcased with the addition of yuzu, green tea and ginger. Perfect with everyday meals and a good alternative to the highball.
