Nicholas Galitzine Sticks to the Classics in Custom Fendi at the Met Gala
It's been a major spring for actor Nicholas Galitzine, and tonight he is making his Met Gala debut, wearing a custom Fendi outfit.
Per the brand, he is wearing a custom black wool fitted jacket with satin lapel and embroidered flower with a matching embroidered tie. Stylist Felicity Kay called Galitzine's Met Gala look "very true to him." In an interview with WWD prior to the event, Kay shared that Galitzine "is really authentically into fashion himself and I’m just working closely with him to bring his interest in fashion to the forefront." She added, "At the core of it, [his style is] quite classic menswear, but we like to add a subtle element of fashion, whether we’re playing with proportions or like an interesting textured knit or slightly off shoes. He’s not someone who follows trends for the sake of it. He’s someone who is more interested in elevated classics, but it’s my job to bring a twist to that."
The British actor is fresh off starring in the romantic comedy The Idea of You as boy band frontman Hayes who falls for Solène, a divorced art gallery owner (Anne Hathaway) and in Mary & George as the scheming George Villiers who seduces King James I (Tony Curran). Galitzine told Town & Country that he approaches his very different roles "from a humanity perspective, and finding out who the person is, what are their wants, what are their obstacles, where the conflict is."
What's next for Galitzine? "Just continuing this sense of unpredictability, that is the thing that I hope to achieve in my career," he says. "To put people in a position where they don't really know what I'm going to do next. That's really exciting for me. Definitely dipping more into different genre work is something I'm excited about."
