Nicki Minaj graced the 2024 Met Gala red carpet on Monday night, adhering to the event’s “Garden of Time” dress code. The rap star turned heads in a custom golden yellow Marni mini dress, resembling a vibrant oil painting adorned with intricate 3-D multi-colored flowers. To complete her striking ensemble, Minaj opted for a pair of matching pointed pumps, perfectly complementing the aesthetic.
Accompanied by Francesco Risso, Marni’s creative director, Minaj strutted in her leather pointed pumps, adding approximately 4 inches to her stature as she ascended the steps of the Met. The heels boasted an angular thin stiletto design, adding a touch of edge to her look.
Known for her affinity for pointed-toe pumps and strappy sandals from luxury labels like Gianvito Rossi and Bottega Veneta on the red carpet, Minaj typically gravitates towards footwear in neutral tones of cream, black and brown. However, her off-duty style often features comfortable chunky slides from Off-White or Louis Vuitton, while knee-high stiletto boots remain her go-to choice.
In September, Minaj showcased her playful side by sporting colorful Lanvin sneakers for a family outing with her husband, Kenny Petty, and their son, lovingly nicknamed Papa Bear. The low-top shoes featured a vibrant turquoise tongue and oversized neon pink laces adorned with a light pink bow.
April marked a significant milestone for Minaj as she ventured into the footwear industry. Amidst her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, the rap sensation collaborated with British footwear label Løci on a new collection. The innovative line features five styles available in 11 colorways, crafted from bio-leather—a sustainable blend of non-food grade corn and recycled textiles.
The Met Gala raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrates the Costume Institute’s annual exhibits. This year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” celebrated the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit. The 2024 event was notably co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
