North Port police spokesperson Joshua Taylor said the search began on Wednesday morning near the 24,000-acre Carlton Reserve park. It ended just before dusk. Brian Laundrie’s parents told investigators he went there after coming home without Petito on September 1.
The FBI searched the Carlton Reserve for the fourth day, with activities halted on Monday. The FBI also searched the adjoining Laundrie residence for evidence.
In an email, Taylor stated that the reserved hunt would resume on Thursday morning.
Thousands of acres of foreboding, swampy subtropical terrain teem with alligators, snakes, bobcats, coyotes, turkey, deer, and other wild animals are part of the outdoor search. More than 100 miles of hiking and horseback riding paths, as well as various camping places and waterways, are available.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office enlisted the help of SURF or the Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Force. It was to conduct a more thorough search for evidence.

Her parents reported Petito,22, missing on Sept. 11 after she did not answer her phone or responded to texts for several days while the couple visited sites in the West. The cops found her body on Sunday in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park.
Teton County Brent Blue categorized Petito’s death as a homicide. It means someone killed her, although he did not say how she died pending autopsy results. Laundrie, 23, has not been charged with a crime. But he is a person of interest in the investigation.
The FBI and police inundate with suggestions about probable Laundrie sightings, with online sleuths and ideas multiplying by the day. None of them have worked out, according to Taylor, the North Port spokesperson. He also dismissed reports that Laundrie had been apprehended on Tuesday.
“These reports are unfortunately false. Please rest assured that when Brian is found, we will be more than happy to let everyone know”, Taylor said in an email.
Petito and Laundrie grew up together on Long Island, New York. But moved to North Port, Florida, in recent years to be closer to his parents. Investigators investigated their home, which is about 35 miles (55 kilometers) south of Sarasota, earlier this week. They towed Laundrie’s mother’s Ford Mustang from the driveway. Before missing, authorities suspect Laundrie drove that car to the Carlton Reserve.
The pair filmed their vacation on social media in a white Ford Transit van. They converted it into a camper. But on Aug 12 near Moab, Utah, they got into a physical argument. It resulted in a police stop for a probable domestic abuse case. The police stopped the quarreling pair and separated them for the night. But nobody pressed charges and no significant injuries were there.
The FBI is looking for anyone who saw them in the Grand Teton area, as well as any additional leads from throughout the country.
