There have been no reports of Singaporeans injured in the terrorist attacks in Barcelona on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement on Thursday (18 August).

Drivers rammed into pedestrians in two separate attacks in Barcelona and another Spanish seaside city, leaving 13 people dead and injuring more than 100 others, according to media reports.

MFA has reached out to Singaporeans who are e-registered in the Spanish city. It will continue to work with the local authorities to monitor the situation closely.

“Singapore strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain on 17 August 2017 that killed and injured many innocent people. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the statement said.

MFA advises Singaporeans in Barcelona to keep in touch with their families and friends and let them know they are safe. Those who require urgent consular assistance should contact the MFA Duty Office at +65 63798800/8855 and mfa_duty_officer@mfa.gov.sg.
