ONE BATTLEGROUND II Features Return Of Two Former World Champions
ONE: BATTLEGROUND saw the crowning of a new ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion in Prajanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym and the winning return of former two-division titleholder Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang.
Next, ONE Championship will put on another stellar card – ONE: BATTLEGROUND II, a previously recorded event that airs on Friday, 13 August, from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
In the main event, former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang takes on Chinese lightweight sensation Zhang “The Warrior” Lipeng.
Folayang last saw action in April at “ONE on TNT IV,” where he battled Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki but succumbed to the Japanese great’s armbar in the first round.
However, Folayang has been competing for over a decade in mixed martial arts, and he should never be counted out. Fans can expect a strong comeback from the Filipino, who is looking for one more run toward the ONE Lightweight World Title.
Zhang, meanwhile, is making his ONE Championship debut and hoping to make a name for himself against the Filipino icon. If he is victorious against “Landslide,” he may set himself up for a fight against one of the top-ranked contenders in the lightweight division.
In the co-main event, #5-ranked strawweight contender Alex “Little Rock” Silva meets Miao Li Tao.
Silva is a former ONE Strawweight World Champion who’s coming off back-to-back losses but trying to build another case for a shot at titleholder Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, who beat him by split decision in January 2020.
Miao last saw action at “ONE on TNT III,” where he defeated Ryuto “Dragon Boy” Sawada. If he can topple Silva, he may get closer to a top-five strawweight ranking.
