OPP investigate motorcyclist's death after crash in Southwest Middlesex

Provincial police are investigating after a motorcyclist from Leamington, Ont., died in a single-vehicle crash in the municipality of Southwest Middlesex early Sunday morning.

Around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, emergency crews responded to the collision on Longwoods Road near Sassafras Road, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Middlesex County.

The lone motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a tree, before catching fire, police said. The motorcyclist, 41, was pronounced dead on scene.

Police said they won't release the victim's identity out of privacy for their family.

Middlesex OPP and the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continue investigating the crash. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

Southwest Middlesex is a municipality about 45 kilometres southwest of London.
