Pan An Bang passes away

5 Feb – "Grandma's Penghu Bay" singer Pan An Bang lost his battle to kidney cancer and passed away last Sunday morning at the age of 52, according to China News.

The low-profile veteran Taiwanese singer found himself diagnosed with heart disease back in 2001 and recently his condition deteriorated rapidly.

Pan was survived by his wife Wang Zhi Xiang and his son. "For all my life, I have spent most of my time with An Bang, now he has left us and I have no idea how to live my life anymore," said Wang, who was married to Pan for 20 years.

Few decades ago, Pan gained fame with his classic song "Grandma's Penghu Bay", which was inspired by his childhood life with his grandmother in Penghu, Taiwan.

"Ah Bang was a very devoted Buddhist, he hoped to leave this world in a quiet manner, without disturbing anyone," said Pan's longtime friend Han Xian Guang.
