People flock to Britain's beaches for spring sunshine

In Brighton, on England's south coast, people congregated on the city's beach to take advantage of the sunshine and blue skies.

While temperatures there reached around 18 degrees Celsius, thermometers topped 22 to 23 degrees in London, 50 miles (80 kilometres) north.

The warmer temperatures arrived a day after England's stay-at-home lockdown order ended.

The lockdown had been in place since January 4 as a result of rising cases of COVID-19.
