food joint Burger King gave away 1,000 “Whopper” burgers to NSmen on Friday
afternoon because the company wanted to show their “appreciation” and give the
uniformed men an opportunity to “satiate their appetite”, said general manager
Wong Shyang Jiuu. The first 1,000 soldiers queuing outside its outlet at White
Sands Shopping Center in Pasir Ris got a free burger each. They also got to
complete the meal with a drink and a pack of fries at discounted prices. The rest
of the men waiting in line got to buy the iconic burger at half the price
(usual price $5.95) -- only for the day.
