Police arrest 73 in seven-day multi-agency operation

Police arrested 73 people, aged between 19 and 69, for various offences during a seven-day, multi-agency operation in Geylang that ended on 29 September.

Of those arrested, 56 men and a woman were nabbed for various offences which included promoting public gaming, gaming in public, and being a member of an unlawful society.

Another 15 women, aged between 22 and 50, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter. Four of these women, as well as a 22-year-old man, were arrested for offences under the Immigration Act.

During the operation, contraband cigarettes, cough mixtures and illegal medicines worth a street value of about $10,515 were also seized.

The operation was led by Bedok Police Division and involved officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Health Sciences Authority, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, and Singapore Customs.
