Police are investigating the “unnatural death” of a 14-year-old boy found dead beneath Blk 316A Yishun Ave 9 on 26 January in the afternoon.

Police confirmed in a statement on Wednesday evening that the boy was brought in earlier that day at 11.30am to assist with investigations into an alleged criminal offence reported on 25 January.

The boy’s father told Chinese daily Shin Min that his son had been accused of molesting a girl.

Police confirmed that the boy cooperated fully with the investigation, and was released on police bail into his mother’s custody at about 2.50 pm on the same day. The police added that throughout the engagement, the boy “did not exhibit any signs of being unduly distressed”.

The boy’s mother was informed and updated by police at various stages of the investigation, added the statement.

Investigations are ongoing.
