SINGAPORE — A full-time police national serviceman was found with a gunshot wound to his head on Monday morning (30 August), and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a media statement on Tuesday that the 21-year-old serviceman, whose name was not revealed, had reported for duty at Special Operations Command (SOC) at about 10.30am on Monday, and had drawn his service revolver from the armoury.

He was later found alone with a gunshot wound to his head in an SOC toilet at about 11am, with the service revolver beside him. He was pronounced dead at about 11.20am by paramedics at the scene.

The police have classified the case as unnatural death. Based on preliminary investigations, they do not suspect foul play.

"The police extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman, and are assisting the family in their time of grief," SPF said in the media statement.
