The first volume of Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong’s memoirs somehow ended up on the ‘Fiction’ shelves of a Popular Bookstore branch.

The error was spotted by popular blogger mrbrown on Monday (29 October), who tweeted a photo with the caption, “Someone shelved Lao Goh’s book under fiction. I wonder if the bookseller knows something we don’t.”

The book, entitled Tall Order: The Goh Chok Tong Story, tells the story of Goh’s life and career until the moment he succeeded the late Lee Kuan Yew as Prime Minister in 1990. A second volume is currently in the works.

But the ESM saw the humour in the situation, even posting mrbrown’s photo on Facebook with the wry caption, “Book shop knows that fiction sells better than memoirs.”

Yahoo News Singapore has reached out to Popular Bookstore for comment.
