Relive your childhood with pre-loved toys at the EcoBank Bazaar in City Square Mall

Kids these days have such an array of mobile apps and games, and they might not even play with toys. But us adults know that some things from your childhood stay with you almost forever.

That being said, with all that growing up to do, it’s inevitable that some of our childhood favourites end up being discarded. That might have been the case with some of the premium items that can be bought at the EcoBank Bazaar, but here’s your chance to give some of them a new lease of life.

The bazaar is part of an initiative by City Developments Limited and Eco-Business to raise awareness of waste generation in Singapore. For this event, the organisers have received some 10.8 tonnes of item donations, almost twice last year’s 6 tonnes.

Just so you know, the landfill at Semakau is on track to be filled to capacity by 2035, and really, we’d rather keep the unique ecosystem on Pulau Semakau than have to use the space to store more unwanted toys.

With all cash donations going towards The Children’s Charities Association of Singapore, you can be sure you’re not just saving the earth, but helping disadvantaged children in Singapore.

Here are some of the really cool items we found when we visited the bazaar at City Square Mall on Serangoon Road.

Star Wars

One of the first things we spotted were figures of Lando Calrissian, the rogue-ish administrator of Cloud City in “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”. Even Queen Amidala from the prequels (shudder) made an appearance.

Hello Kitty

Remember all those long queues and grumblings over the availability of McDonald’s Hello Kitty plushies? Well, some of them are here now, and it might be a good time to find what’s been missing from your collection.

DC toys

Sure, DC’s film universe might be in a little bit of a limbo right now (though they did just find a Batman director), but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some good old DC characters like The Martian Manhunter.

And while Ryan Reynolds is happily being Deadpool right now (with shooting on the sequel starting in May), there’s still room for some Green Lantern in someone’s heart

GI Joe

A staple for most kids back in the day, there were a couple of interesting GI Joe toys around, including this limited edition of a female helicopter pilot.

Others

In addition to toys, the EcoBank Bazaar has a fair collection of other items on sale, including bags, shoes, dresses, plushies, books and even paintings.

There’s also a copy of The Restful Mind by Gyalwa Dokhampa, signed by UNDP Goodwill Ambassador and actress Michelle Yeoh, which is on auction at a starting bid of $600.
