Priyanka Chopra could be entering the Matrix next year, after speculations that she’ll be joining the cast of the franchise’s fourth film.

Chopra would act alongside the original cast members of the trilogy, including Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), according to Variety.

She won’t be the only newcomer on set, as Aquaman's Neil Patrick Harris and Watchmen's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are joining the cast, although their roles haven’t yet been confirmed.

Lana Wachowski, who co-directed the original series with sibling Lilly Wachowski, will co-write and direct the upcoming project. The fourth instalment comes 18 years after the last film in the franchise debuted.

There are no details of a plot just yet, although Reeves previously hinted: “It’s very ambitious. As it should be!”

Chopra is also set to appear in the Amazon Studios miniseries Citadel, alongside the Bodyguard's Richard Madden.

Chopra shared the exciting news on Instagram at the time, writing: "Cannot wait to work alongside the super talented @maddenrichard and incredible @therussobrothers on this new series. Get ready!"

It has been a busy few months for Chopra, who has fronted a number of Netflix films and shows recently, including The Sky Is Pink, We Can Be Heroes and an adaptation of The White Tiger, which is due out this year.

The Matrix 4, which doesn’t yet have an official title, is set for release on May 21 2021.
