Quaranstream: Free shows and performances to watch online

With the coronavirus pandemic spreading throughout the world, most of us are staying at home to flatten the curve and to stay safe. While some of us are working from home or just abiding by the government’s call, chances are you may be bored while living under self-quarantine.

Luckily for us, the age of “quaranstreaming” is here and a lot of events and talented artistes have started performing online so you can enjoy their performances without breaking any social distancing measures.

Here’s a guide on some of the biggest entertainment and lifestyle events you can stream online, with some of the major calendar shows going live and free.

Lifestyle

A Moment with the Met (5 May at 6am SGT). The live-stream will include an address by Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour, a performance by Florence + The Machine and a DJ set by designer Virgil Abloh.

Entertainment

Disney Magic Moments features free content from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Walt Disney Animation Studios, National Geographic, Disney Parks and more.

Bright Sided with Miley Cyrus (Weekdays at 2.30am)

Robin Williams' Official YouTube Channel

HBO is releasing first seasons of select iconic HBO Originals and HBO Asia Originals for free for one month on HBO GO at https://www.hbogoasia.com/ and the HBO GO app. Be ready to binge-watch Ballers S1, Barry S1, Folklore S1, Invisible Stories S1 and more.

Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies will live-stream John Wick for free on YouTube on 8 May.

Eva Longoria, J. Balvin, Gloria Estefan, and more will be lending their star support to the Altísimo Live Cinco de Mayo Festival on 6 May, 1am, to raise funds to aid farmworkers affected by COVID-19.

Singer-songwriter Singto Numchok will perform on Music Matters' Instagram Live on 5 May, 6.30pm. Watch the live-stream here.

Filipino pop-rock band The Itchyworms will be performing on Music Matters' Instagram Live on 7 May, at 8pm.

Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service have been live-streaming snippets of their gigs daily. Catch it on their official Facebook page.

Bruno Mars will be live-streaming from New York for his fans to raise funds for WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Catch it on YouTube, 8 May at 4am.

Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park has been teaching fans on music production on his official YouTube channel. Check back daily for the tutorials.

Metallica has created a quarantine series titled 'Metallica Mondays', where they live-stream previous concert gigs for die-hard fans. Watch it on their YouTube channel.
