Race Across the World has unveiled its first trailer for the fourth series, showcasing our first glimpse as our contestants travel across East and Southeast Asia.

The BBC reality series follows several teams of two as they are tasked with racing across a specific area of the world without using air travel, relying on their ground skills as they must keep within a budget.

The fourth series sees the teams aim to reach Indonesia after starting in Japan, with necessities such as phones, bank cards and – crucially – directions all absent.

The first trailer for the series showcases the “intrepid” duos, with the X/Twitter account writing: “It's almost time! #RaceAcrossTheWorld Series 4 starts on the 10th April on BBC One and iPlayer.”

The BBC show debuted in 2019, with the five teams being tasked with travelling from London to Singapore. A second and third series followed in 2020 and 2023 respectively, showcasing journeys from Mexico to Argentina and Vancouver to Newfoundland in Canada.

Whilst we still don’t know this year’s contestants, fans can be content with the knowledge that spin-off show, Celebrity Race Across the World, will return with its second series, with BBC's Head of Commissioning for Factual Entertainment and Events releasing a statement following the renewal.

“We would like to thank our cast for putting their heart and soul into it, and we are delighted with the reaction, particularly from young audiences on iPlayer,” said Catherine Catton. “We are very much looking forward to working with Studio Lambert on the next series.”

The cast for the first series of the celebrity edition included Alex Beresford, Melanie Blatt, Harry Judd and Billy Monger, with all the stars travelling from Morocco to Norway alongside a family member.

Race Across the World will return on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on April 10.
