Reese Witherspoon stars in Legally Blonde reunion as sequel set for 2022
Reese Witherspoon has reunited with the cast of Legally Blonde in a special video, ahead of filming a sequel.
Hollywood studio MGM announced late Tuesday (October 20) that Legally Blonde 3 will officially be hitting cinemas in May 2022, with Witherspoon returning as Elle Woods.
The Little Fires Everywhere actress had taken to Instagram to reveal that the cast recently came together for a virtual hang, in celebration of the iconic film's 20th anniversary.
Those who took part include Jennifer Coolidge, Luke Wilson, Ali Larter, Holland Taylor, Selma Blair and of course, Elle Woods herself, Witherspoon. Jessica Cauffiel and Alanna Ubach, who played Elle's besties Margot and Serena, also joined in.
"We wanted to share the joy we had making this film with you," Reese explained in the video.

"Ohmigod you guys!! It's a Legally Blonde Reunion," Witherspoon also wrote alongside the promo video. "We laughed, we cried and we may or may not have done the bend & snap for old times sake!
"For the first time in 20 years, join me and the #LegallyBlonde cast tomorrow at 3:15PM PST on the @hellosunshine YouTube channel! PS: Don't you want to see if Elle & Warner finally make up?"
The gang got back together on behalf of World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organisation devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters.

Released in 2001, Legally Blonde follows peppy sorority girl Elle, whose boyfriend Warner Huntington III dumps her on the basis that she's not "serious" enough to be dating a guy who'll soon be studying at Harvard Law School.
Desperate to win Warner back, Elle endeavours to bag her own place at Harvard and prove to him that she can be just as "serious" as he is. Once there, she impresses everyone around her with her unflappable sense of faith and savvy know-how, and winds up being assigned to defend a woman being wrongly accused of murdering her husband.
