From iconic lyrics to link ups with Donatella Versace and Marc Jacobs, rapper Lil' Kim has long been a muse to the industry. As the 2024 MET Gala arrives, take a look back at the first female rapper to make it to the MET steps.

Attending as Versace's guest, Kim rocked pink from head to toe. She remained true to her baddie roots wearing a tiny pink set paired with a pink and blonde wig, python stiletto boots and an oversized pink fur coat.

For those new to the sex-positive rapper's style, fur has long been her signature. Whether a fur trim, pasty or coat, her most memorable moments feature the luxe material -- and the MET was no different. It was the perfect number for her, but the look posed a few issues.

For starters, the name Lil' Kim is not a joke. Her name is a reference to her 4'11" height. So when Versace wanted to put her size five foot in size eight python boots... you would think it would be an issue.

"They didn’t make the shoes she wanted me to wear that small," she told Vogue. "The only ones available were the ones on the runway for the models! Those were a size eight, but they were beautiful, and I loved them... I told her I don’t care because I knew she wanted me to wear them." Donatella's response? "That’s my Kimmy."

Putting pain aside was a small price for the "Queen Bitch" rapper. "Donatella is my girl. We’ve loved each other from the moment we first saw each other,” Kim told Vogue at the time. "She loved the fact that I have fun in her clothes. Versace was one of my favorite designers."

As if the moment wasn't already iconic, Kim later added another MET Gala attendance to her portfolio. This time, as Marc Jacobs’ muse.
