Residents bemused by street-sign spelling error
Residents of a North Lincolnshire village have been left baffled by a street-sign spelling mistake.
Queen Elizabeth Avenue in South Ferriby was accidentally renamed "Queeen Elizabeth Avenue" on Friday on the new sign - with an additional "E".
One resident, 71-year-old Ronald Baldwin, said it was "totally pathetic" that a "cash strapped" council could make such a mistake.
A spokesperson from North Lincolnshire Council apologised for the mistake and said it was caused by a "simple human error".
Other residents questioned how the mistake wasn't spotted, including 43-year-old Claire Jennings, who wondered "how many hands it had gone through, from being made, to two gentleman installing it" without anyone noticing the error.
Dean Molds, 32, asked "What would the Queen think if she knew?" while 72-year-old Dorothy Mills said she hadn't noticed the error until her grandson pointed it out.
She said that the "gentleman who took it back" on Monday morning said he "should have checked it".
