foodpanda Singapore has appointed Luc Andreani as its new Managing Director, replacing Aspa Lekka, who is moving to foodpanda’s Berlin office to head up Account Management globally.

Andreani has experience in the retail market place and a specialism in data analytics, supply chain management, vendor acquisition, account/brand management and business development in e-commerce.

He was previously the Chief Marketplace Officer for Alibaba-owned e-commerce platform Lazada.

In an official press release, Andreani said he has ambitious plans for the Rocket Internet-backed food delivery startup, which was acquired by Delivery Hero in 2016.

He plans to double order volume and reach profitability, while maintaining customer service standards.

Beyond that, Andreani will have to help ensure foodpanda Singapore steers clear of the problems that have plagued its neighbouring markets. In December 2015, foodpanda India was forced to lay off 330 employees amid tough market conditions. And late last year, foodpanda Indonesia shuttered its doors.

But this year foodpanda seems to have got off on the right foot. In Q1, it claims to have grown by 222 per cent in Asia. Within Singapore alone, foodpanda claims to have a 50 per cent market share, serving 800,000 active customers monthly.
