Rooney Mara to star in Sia-soundtracked 'Vox Lux'

The acclaimed "Carol" and "Her" actress is to take the lead role in "Vox Lux," a fictional film charting the 15-year rise of a superstar pop singer.

Australian singer-songwriter Sia Furler will soundtrack the film, which is being directed by Brady Corbet, with Mara playing central character Celeste, reports The Film Stage.

Corbet attracted international acclaim for his 2015 film "The Childhood of a Leader," which had Robert Pattinson as its lead actor and won two awards at the Venice International Film Festival.

Already regarded as something of an auteur in some quarters, Corbet has also appeared in Lars Von Trier's "Melancholia," Olivier Assayas's "Clouds of Sils Maria"," Ruben Ostlund's "Force Majeure" and Bertrand Bonello's fashion biopic "Saint Laurent" after breaking through opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 2004 drama "Mysterious Skin."

Sia received five Grammy nominations for 2014 single "Chandelier," whie Mara received two nominations apiece for "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and "Carol" from the Academy Awards and Golden Globes.
