Russian police officer Igor Pimenov has confessed that he and his "colleagues" from the occupation police of Kherson Oblast tortured 27-year-old resident of Hornostayivka Ruslan Rusnak to death, ​​the Russian Telegram channel Astra reported on Feb. 16.

The Russian military was attempting to extract a confession related to a Ukrainian military drone strike on a Russian-occupied police department.

According to the Telegram channel, Pimenov is 47 years old. He works as a law enforcement officer in Lyubertsy near Moscow. In March 2023, he came to work in the occupied territory of Ukraine. Pimenov worked for the occupation police in Hornostayivka as a "senior operative of the economic security group".

According to Astra, he confessed to the murder of a Ukrainian citizen on Feb. 12, 2024. Pimenov said that he and four other "police officers," including the "head of the police department" of occupied Hornostayivka, detained Ruslan Rusnak in his home on the morning of Nov. 20, 2023, and took him to the local "police department." He was tortured there in an attempt to extract a confession, but the detainee died at 4 p.m. "right in front" of their eyes.

All five law enforcement officers were recently arrested by colleagues, and the occupation investigative committee opened a case of abuse of power, Astra reported, citing its own sources.
