Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Please Please Please’ Becomes Her First No. 1 Single
If it seems like Sabrina Carpenter is crossing major career milestones with each passing week, that’s because she is: the singer-songwriter and actor claims the first No. 1 single of her career this week with “Please Please Please” leading the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Carpenter has been making a big splash ahead of the Aug. 23 release of her sixth studio album, “Short n’ Sweet.” In the last week, she made Hot 100 history when “Please Please Please” debuted at No. 2, while her viral hit “Espresso” sat at No. 3 — making her the first solo act in the history of the 66-year-old Billboard Hot 100 chart to land two simultaneous top-three hits. This week, “Please Please Please” logs nearly 51 million official streams – Carpenter’s best career streaming week for a single – and a whopping increase of 502% in radio airplay audience impressions, according to Luminate. Carpenter also claims the No. 4 song in the United States with “Espresso.”

The recognition also extends to Carpenter’s label Island Records, who score their first No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Please Please Please.” As Billboard reports, the company last appeared in the summit with Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Senorita” in August 2019. The label has also seen chart success in recent weeks with Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!,” which is currently sitting in the Top 20 of the list.
Former leader, Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, drops to No. 2 after spending a month at No. 1. The song is reportedly a part of Malone’s upcoming album, “F-1 Trillion,” due Aug. 16.
Elsewhere, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” returns to No. 3 and Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” holds at No. 5. Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is steady at No. 6 after it debuted atop the chart in May. The song also got a big look during Lamar’s Juneteenth concert — dubbed “The Pop Out” and headlined by “Ken & Friends” — where Lamar performed “Not Like Us” six different times.
Hozier’s “Too Sweet” is still at No. 7 while Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” returns to the Hot 100’s top 10, lifting to No. 8; Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” is at No. 9; and Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” rounds out the top at No. 10.
