Samsung's SmartThings hub helps monitor your home

Samsung has launched its new SmartThings hub, a device that connects to an app and various sensors to monitor users' homes.

Users will be able to connect a home monitoring camera to the hub, to monitor a live video feed from the SmartThings mobile app.

A new redesign will also allow users to program certain actions such as turning on lights, turning off alarms or unlocking doors.

The new hub goes further than its previous version, offering a longer battery life and doing away with the need for an internet cloud connection to function.

The SmartThings Hub is available from Samsung and Amazon for $99, with sensors running from $30 to $55.
