Singapore Airlines unveils open platform initiative to improve customer experience

SIA has also launched a developer portal to provide SIA partners with more information on the range of APIs available

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has launched KrisConnect, an open platform initiative that will allow its travel partners to use its Application Programme Interfaces (APIs) to build solutions that will enhance the company’s offerings.

KrisConnect contains a range of APIs such as those from IATA’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) programme as well as other proprietary APIs.

The APIs provide a range of functionalities including making and management of flight bookings, checking on flight status information, providing KrisFlyer-related information and more.

The programme is currently already in the execution phase, with several travel companies already tapping into the programme.

They include global distribution systems such as Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport; travel agents such as CTM and Ctrip/Trip.com; as well as travel aggregators such as Google, KAYAK, Skyscanner and Travelfusion.

“APIs accord us the opportunity to extend these values beyond our traditional touchpoints and we are pleased to launch KrisConnect to develop a deeper relationship with partners to improve the SIA customer experience on their platforms,” said Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Campbell Wilson, in an official press statement.

For example, by leveraging KrisConnect, Skyscanner has now enabled SIA flights to be booked directly on its platform.

In addition to the rollout of KrisConnect, SIA has also launched a developer portal to provide SIA partners with more information on the range of APIs available and how to get access to these APIs.
