The 77th Singapore Open Track & Field Championships 2015, originally scheduled for the weekend of 28 and 29 March 2015, will now be staged on 4 and 5 April 2015 at the Singapore Sports Hub’s National Stadium.

The postponement is due to the period of national mourning from March 23 to March 29 2015 announced earlier this week by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, to mark the death of his father, former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, who passed away on March 23.

In a statement, Singapore Athletics said the postponement was decided by the championships' organising committee as a 'mark of respect'. The event timings and venue remains unchanged.

"The Singapore Athletics family would also like to extend our condolences to Prime Minister and family and we stand united with the rest of Singapore in this difficult time," the committee said.

Lee had been hospitalised since Feb 5 and his condition had steadily worsened since then. He passed away peacefully at 3:18am on Monday. His body will lie in state at Parliament House from Wednesday, 25 March to Saturday, 28 March (open to the public from 10am-8pm). A state funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, 29 March at the University Cultural Centre of the National University of Singapore.
