SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Saturday (31 July) reported 120 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 64,981.

In a media release, the MOH said that there are 117 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, of which 26 are linked to the Jurong Fishery Port cluster and one belongs to the KTV cluster. The two clusters are now linked to 1,027 and 251 cases, respectively.

Of the 117 cases, 67 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine, the ministry said. Eight are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. A total of 42 are currently unlinked.

Among the cases are seven seniors above 70 years who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and are at risk of serious illness.

There are three imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. One was detected upon arrival in Singapore, while two developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

Eight new clusters, including prison site

The MOH announced eight new clusters including one at Institution S2 Selarang Park Complex, which is a Singapore Prisons Service site. There are currently six cases linked to the cluster.

The other seven new clusters are named after case numbers and the MOH did not offer details on the cases that the clusters are named after.

In total, there are currently 71 active clusters, ranging between three and 1,027 infections, the ministry said.

As there have been no more cases linked to the Changi General Hospital cluster for the past two incubation periods, or 28 days, the cluster has now been closed.

The MOH said that the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 1,027 cases in the week before to 868 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 99 cases in the week before to 273 cases in the past week.

It added that the seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 85.0 and 39.0 respectively.

33 require oxygen supplementation; 7 in ICU

A total of 62,733 cases in Singapore, or over 99 per cent of the overall total, have fully recovered from their infection and have been discharged from the hospital.

As of Saturday, 604 cases are currently warded, most of whom are well and under observation.

There are currently 33 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation and seven in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Three among the 40 cases are fully vaccinated – two requires oxygen supplementation while one requires ICU care as they have underlying medical conditions, said the MOH.

Among them are also 26 seniors above the age of 60, of whom 24 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill, it added.

Apart from the 37 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.

Over the last 28 days, 49 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to the ICU, or died. Of them, 28 are unvaccinated, 18 are partially vaccinated and three are fully vaccinated.

As of Friday, about 7.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme. Some 4.3 million have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with 3.33 million having completed the full vaccination regimen.

This means that 59 per cent of the have completed their full regimen, or received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, and 77 per cent have received at least one dose.

Those who have received the Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine locally are not included in Singapore's national vaccination numbers. As of Friday, 102,840 doses of the China-made vaccine have been administered to 73,793 individuals.
