SINGAPORE — A 41-year-old Singaporean woman and her four-month-old daughter were killed in a collision with a large dump truck in Hokkaido, Japan, on Tuesday morning (10 January).

The woman's 44-year-old husband and four-year-old daughter were also inside the car they were driving in, but they escaped with injuries.

According to Japanese news outlet NHK, the husband suffered a severe injury in his lower back, while the daughter was injured in the head.

Japanese news outlets had reported that the family's rental car was carrying four people in the ski town of Kamifurano at around 11.30am on Tuesday. The family were believed to be sightseeing in Japan.

According to Japanese media outlets, the car was turning from a side road onto the main road when it collided with the lorry, which was heading straight.

Authorities said the two deceased persons are Lin Shuwei, 41, and her second daughter, Ahana Kartik. The truck driver was not injured.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
