SINGAPORE – Shaw Plaza Balestier will be reopening on Saturday (1 April) after closing for major renovations in August 2019.
In a press release, management said that the mall will host a weekend-long itinerary of shows, activities and games as part of its reopening celebrations.
Located in the heart of Balestier, the fully-refurbished 14,346 sq m mixed-use development is "centred around re-creating a space where families can experience that will inspire and create new memories for the whole family".
"Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Whampoa-Balestier neighbourhood, industrial and movie studio influences with hints of heritage are the key driving features of the design experience."
New experiences include a heritage walkway, shophouse-inspired retail and F&B (food and beverage) courtyards, outdoor garden play, and an 11-screen cineplex.
Shaw Theatres Balestier has 11 screens, featuring six regular halls and four Lumiere halls that will feature luxurious and spacious reclining seat by 42 degrees. Lumiere halls will also come with an ergonomically shaped backrest, a generously sized turntable and USB charging ports.
There will also be Dreamers, which till now, was available only at Shaw Theatres Jewel. Designed with family in mind, Dreamers offers family-friendly movies all year round. Parents and children can experience the movie together in a conducive environment with soft lighting, softer audio, and the option of lounging on bean bags at the front of the hall.
A Sky Terrace on Level 3 has an outdoor play area, which features a climber, mini zip line, and slides.
F&B and lifestyle brands setting up shop at the mall include Mui Kee congee, Picolino by Les Amis Group and Ya Kun Kaya Toast.
A total of 132 residential units are located above the shopping mall.
