SLAM SNEAKER REVIEW: adidas D Rose 4.5

What’s up guys, welcome to this week’s SLAM Sneaker Review. This time around we have the adidas D Rose 4.5 ‘All-Star’ on deck.

With some wild and bold color ways like the Messi, Neon and Memphis Tigers, this personally is my favorite. All of em are dope as well as the clean Home and Away ones but this baby is just really clean and at the same time ‘may dating’.

FIT

The upper contains breathe friendly air mesh and a molded EVA collar for additional padding on the ankle area. The insole gives you comfort and extra cushioning while the EVA midsole provides a lightweight playing session.

The non-marking rubber outsole has different degrees of thickness to mainly lessen the lbs and at the same time keep a durable on court feel. The traction pattern prevents dust that attracts the sole, so no need to be concerned about slipping and sliding on the court when you are going for that loose ball.

Shoes are True to size so you won’t have to worry about going a size up or down.

WEIGHT

Wt. 12.4 oz.

  • Upper Height is a mid cut top, just enough stability.

  • Ample lightweight situation keeps you readily explosive.

When I tried them on, I was honestly surprised on how light it was. A few improvements from the 4 but crucial ones at that. Just like how you handle the iPhone 4-4s-5-5s situation.

BACKGROUND

” The Chicago Bulls point guard’s signature shoe features new design elements representing his attacking and relentless play.” This pretty much describes the shoe as a whole. While the former MVP is recovering, you got young stud Damian Lillard reppin the 4.5. Make your own historical feats in these.

PS: I can’t wait for Rose and Lillard to go all out, head to head on the court.

DETAIL

The D Rose 4.5 showcases an all-new hybrid skin upper design that has a technical and stylish pattern repping the quickest and rarest species while collaborating with Derrick’s high sense of style. The hybrid skin upper of Sprint Frame (keyword 1) and Sprint Web (keyword 2) enhances support on the lateral side of the shoe while the Crazyquick outsole on the medial side finishes off the shoe for ultimate performance.

The dope feature for me is the really unique “hybrid skin” upper inspired by Chi-Town’s very own aggressive and attacking style of play.

Additional details include the signature D Rose logo which features the known three petals that circulate around the letter “D” and number “1” in the center, convieniently located on the collar and tongue.

STABILTY AND SUPPORT

As mentioned earlier, the updated Sprint Frame gives this shoe strength to support explosive cuts and leaps that would definitely help the youngest MVP ever on the hardwood right about now.

adidas’ Sprint Frame technology produces a lightweight finish that gives you a low-to-the-ground lock, delivering ample stability in an area that is underrated. This is the opposite of the current minimalist approach and that’s a good thing because material wise, an added layer of support keeps everything in check.

Focusing on the mid foot area, SF is really lightweight plus supportive and strong, Sprint Frame was actually inspired by the fluid design of bridges and their ability to support large amounts of weight. What’s pretty cool is this is needed and thus provided in a variety of sports. Sprint Frame was also seen in the D Rose 3.5 and Crazyquick which got good on court reviews. There is no unwanted bulk here and simply put, it’s a shoe you can rely on.

adidas Sprint Web meanwhile is this lightweight upper construction approach from the brand of Three Stripes that aims to shed (something similar to that dreaded holiday) weight from any sport, especially basketball. This meanwhile is utilized on the upper portion.

Sprint Web on the other hand was present in the Rose 773.

LOOK AND FEEL

adidas gives us a 3M reflective Rose logo and special lace lock on the 4.5′s. One of my favorite colour combos too is that black/blue esque partnership. Plus a hint of lemony brightness on these and it creates the perfect look. If you’re into simpler colorways then the Home and Away are for you. If you’re a wild one like FloRida, then the Memphis one is for you.

STYLE

You know how fashion is today. These go well with some printed/ patterned polos. Animalistic like Rose is on the court. That NOLA party vibe. The 4.5′s are designed for D Rose but made for everyone.

PS: Bonus freebies are always a plus. The dope D Rose hangtag is a pretty cool backpack keychain.

OVERALL

9/10

Again, key words. SPRINT Frame. SPRINT Web. What also got me to clinch this shoe with a W was that it is miCoach ready so you are able to track your performance on the court. Just make sure you get buckets.

Cop your pair now and choose from a plethora of colorways at Titan and adidas stores.
