Sofia Coppola's next film has a release date

Sofia Coppola is one of the twelve directors nominated at the 70th Cannes Film Festival

Wartime drama "The Beguiled," starring Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst, is now due for release in June 2017.

Set during the US Civil War, "The Beguiled" sees a wounded solider taken in by the inhabitants of a girl's school.

Based on the Thomas P. Cullinan romance novel, previously adapted into a 1971 Clint Eastwood movie (as Deadline Hollywood observes), Sofia Coppola's version is now set for general release on June 30, 2017 following early previews in select cinemas from June 23.

"The Beguiled" will be Coppola's sixth feature film; her second, 2003's "Lost in Translation," won her the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay as well as a nomination as Best Director.
