St James Power Station murder: Two more men charged

*UPDATE AT 1.30pm on 15 March 2017: The police have arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the case. The suspect, a 22-year-old man, was arrested on Tuesday and will be charged with murder with common intention on Thursday.

Two more men have been charged at a district court on Wednesday (15 March) for their alleged involvement in a murder near St James Power Station last week.

Muhammad Khalid Kamarudin, 21, who was wearing a football jersey, and 27-year-old Muhammad Hisham Hassan, who was clad in a grey t-shirt, appeared calm as the charges were read to them in Malay.

The two men are believed to be part of a four-man gang that took the life of Sateesh Kumar Manogaran, 35. Shawalludin Sa’adon, 26 was charged on Tuesday, while another suspect, 32-year-old Muhammed Faizal Jamal, is still under investigation.

According to the charge sheet, the four men allegedly committed the offence between 5.45am and 6am last Sunday. Manogaran was discovered with stab wounds on his head and back. After being sent to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), he was pronounced dead at about 6.45am on the same day.

Khalid and Hisham, who are represented by their counsel K Jayakumar, will be remanded at Alpha Police Division for a week to assist with police investigations.

The duo will face the death penalty if found guilty of murder.
