Stars hold simple memorial for Cheung Yiu Wing

1 Apr – Hong Kong stars including Joey Yung, Twins (Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung), as well as Andy Hui, recently held a simple yet intimate memorial ceremony backstage at the Hong Kong Coliseum for 'Father of Concerts', Cheung Yiu Wing, who passed away last week from heart disease.

According to Mingpao, the stars who were to make a guest appearance at the Ronald Ng concert that night, held a moment of silence and even presented white chrysanthemums and Cheung's favourite soft drink at the venue.

A special seat was also emptied for the late concert organiser at the show, which was also attended by Cheung's wife and children.

Among other guests who came for the memorial include Cheung's first wife Law Kwai Chu, second wife Chan Yuet Kwai, son Cheung Wing Hong, Cheung Wing Keung, Chueng Wing Sun and Cheung Wing Tat, daughter Cheung Lai Fong, daughter-in-law Fonny, as well as entertainers such as Miriam Yeung, Edmond Leung, Jordan Chan and Chapman To.

Since the Hong Kong Coliseum had always been like a second home to Cheung, it was revealed that his family members are also applying for the hearse to drive into the Hong Kong Coliseum backstage parking lot on the day of Cheung Yiu Wing's funeral, so that their father will have a final stop at his beloved Hong Kong Coliseum. It will also coincide with Sam Hui's concert on the same day.

Cheung's son, Cheung Wing Hong and his wife Fonny said that they will be releasing a press statement later on to announce the funeral committee and pallbearers list.

Cheung Yiu Wing was 82.
