Stephen Fung enjoys the perks of working in America

29 Jun - Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung cherishes the opportunity of working with American satellite television channel, AMC, in producing the new series, "Into the Badlands."

According to Mingpao News, Stephen, who co-produces the series with AMC alongside the series' star Daniel Wu, revealed that the story of "Into the Badlands" was conceived by the two of them and two other producers, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar of "Smallville" fame.

"Daniel and I are probably the first Chinese producers to produce American television, though I am not sure whether I am the first Chinese director to make an American TV show," said Stephen.

When asked if there are differences working in Hollywood and in Hong Kong, Stephen admitted that there isn't much, but being part of the Directors Guild of America has its benefits.

"The Guild has better health and welfare plans, and it gives me a higher chance to work with bigger film projects," said the "Bishonen" star.

As for his next project, Stephen revealed that he is currently working on a movie about magicians, tentatively called, "Everything is Possible", which hopefully will begin production early next year.
