Striking Legend Sam-A To Defend ONE World Title At ONE: BATTLEGROUND

Two-sport ONE World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao will return to the ONE Championship Circle and defend his ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title against a gritty organizational newcomer from Thailand.

In the main event of ONE: BATTLEGROUND on Friday, 30 July, the Thai legend will face compatriot and Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadium World Champion Prajanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym.

It’s a battle with plenty of experience, as both athletes have over 400 fights to their credit. Sam-A is 370-47-9, while Prajanchai is 337-51-3. However, only one of them has become a World Champion in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

Sam-A, who trains in Singapore at Evolve MMA, won the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship in February 2020 when he defeated Rocky Ogden in a thrilling five-round clash.

He then defended his belt against #1-ranked contender Josh “Timebomb” Tonna last October, scoring three knockdowns on the Australian in the second round and earning the TKO win.

He will now welcome Prajanchai, who’s shared the ring with and defeated some of the best Muay Thai fighters of his generation, including “The Angel Warrior” Panpayak Jitmuangnon.

Prajanchai is a slick and technical fighter like Sam-A, so this should be an explosive chess match between two of the sport’s greatest fighters.

This will undoubtedly be Sam-A’s toughest test as a ONE World Champion, but Prajanchai will have to shake off the nerves of competing on the global stage of martial arts for the first time.
