Suspect charged with killing man near Beach Road

SINGAPORE — A 55-year-old man was on Tuesday (15 September) charged with the murder of a 67-year-old man.

Chng Hock Choon is accused of killing Miskiman Maakip at a grass patch near Block 5 Beach Road at about 3pm on Sunday.

The suspect appeared at the State Courts on Tuesday via video-link from Central Police Division, where he is currently being remanded.

The judge ordered that he be sent for psychiatric observation at Changi Prison Complex Medical Centre.

Chng’s case will be mentioned in court again in three weeks’ time on 6 October.

If found guilty, he faces the death penalty.
