Taiwanese director Doze Niu accused of sexual assault

10 Dec – Taiwanese director Doze Niu has been accused of sexual assault.

As reported on Epoch Times, the director, known for his critically-acclaimed film "Monga", allegedly assaulted a female member of his film crew at his home following a group meeting.

A friend of the victim revealed that Niu, who has been flirting with her since she joined the production, attacked the victim on the sofa after all the guest had left.

The victim immediately visited the hospital after the assault, and has not returned to work ever since due to trauma.

It was also revealed that Niu's company had been trying to contact her, hoping to settle the matter privately. Despite initial concern about her career prospect in the industry, the victim decided to go to the police after being persuaded by friends.

The case has already been submitted to the police for further investigation.

This is not the first time Niu made headlines for the wrong reasons. Back in 2014, he nearly went to prison for breaking a law that prohibits the entry of Chinese nationals into a Taiwan naval base - when he brought mainland cinematographer Cao Yu into a Kaohsiung naval base in preparation to shoot the movie, "Paradise in Service".
