Taiwanese premium tea chain Ten Ren’s Tea will open its first outlet in Singapore at Chinatown Point mall on Saturday (28 July), the first step in an ambitious plan to open up to 30 outlets across the island in the next three years.

The 800-square-feet store will offer bubble tea and traditional tea drinks, as well as tea leaves, snacks and teaware. It will have seating space for up to 50 customers at a time.

Ten Ren’s menu includes its signature 913 King’s Oolong Tea Latte ($3.50 for medium, $4.90 for large), Orange Green Tea ($4.00 for medium, $5.60 for large) and Taro Green Tea Latte ($4.70 for medium, $6.50 for large).

The brand uses ingredients sourced from its own plantations in its drinks, with no artificial preservatives added.

In conjunction with its launch, the store will have a “buy one, get one free” promotion over its opening weekend. The first 150 customers on its opening day will receive a goody bag with products worth over $50.

One of the largest tea retailers in the world, Ten Ren’s Tea is famous for its oolong tea and has over 2,000 stores in China (under the Tenfu brand), Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia and North America.

Ten Ren’s was founded in 1953 by Lee Ray Ho, who has been dubbed the “Worldwide King of Tea”. The brand started out as a retailer of traditional tea but branched out into bubble tea in recent years. It was voted one of the best bubble tea brands in New York City by Time Out magazine this year.
