Takashi Sorimachi for 'Shicho Shisu'

7 Mar – Takashi Sorimachi would be playing the lead role in Fuji TV's special drama "Shicho Shisu", based on the mystery short story by the late writer Matsumoto Seicho.

According to Tokyo Hive, Sorimachi, best known for his role as "The Great Teacher Onizuka", would be playing as a popular florist, Kasagi Kozo, who goes to investigate the disappearance and death of his uncle, played by Issey Ogata, who is found dead in a hot spring.

After finding a diary belonging to his uncle, Kasagi together with his uncle's housekeeper, Sumiko, (played by Baisho Mitsuko) heads towards the hot spring where his uncle was found to find out more about the existence of a woman named Yoshiko.

Ishiguro Ken has also been cast for the drama.

"Shicho Shisu" is based on a short story written by Matsumoto Seicho that is taken from his compilation of short stories. The story was previously adapted into a drama series in 1959 but Fuji TV is producing this special drama to commemorate Matsumoto's 20th death anniversary.

The drama is set to begin airing on April 3 in Japan.
