Teen in hospital after 'fall from height' at St Joseph's Institution: Police
SINGAPORE — A male teenager was taken to hospital on Thursday (22 July), following a "fall from height" at St Joseph’s Institution (SJI), said police.
The boy was conscious when he was conveyed to the KK Women's and Children's Hospital.
The police said they received a call for assistance at about 11.40am at 38 Malcolm Road, where the secondary school's campus is located, adding that they do not suspect foul play.
In a media statement, an SJI spokesperson said one of its students had fallen from height at a common area after recess at 11.30am. An ambulance was then called for. His parents were contacted and are now with the boy.
"The boy has received medical treatment and is warded for monitoring."
In a letter to parents and guardians from Rev Father Adrian Danker that was seen by Yahoo News Singapore, the SJI principal said that the SJI pastoral team and counsellors have attended to students who witnessed the incident.
He urged parents and guardians to inform teachers if their children show any signs of distress, or are in need of psychological or emotional support.
Father Danker also urged them not to post or share any photos or videos of the incident or the injured student that might have been taken by their children.
He added, "I wish to reassure you that we will continue to care for our Josephians in our SJI community during this trying time and the additional SMMs. The school is here to support your child."
