'Terms of Endearment' to debut on the US stage

Larry McMurty, seen here in 2006, wrote the novel 'Terms of Endearment.'

"Terms of Endearment" is making its US theater debut starting on October 29 in New York, reports Deadline, ten years after its scheduled theater debut in Texas and Connecticut was put on hold indefinitely.

The off-Broadway 59E59 Theaters will run the David Gordon stage adaptation of the Larry McMurtry novel that turned into the 1983 Oscar-winning film.

The 59E59 artistic direction will team up with Broadway producers Roy Furman and Julian Schlossberg on the production. Auditions began on Friday in New York.

"Terms of Endearment" tells the story of the complicated relationship between a mother and daughter, both on the hunt for romantic love.

The play will run through December 11.
