SINGAPORE — A traffic police officer was involved in a traffic accident with a car on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on Wednesday (10 May).

The police confirmed the incident with Yahoo Southeast Asia on Thursday, stating that they were alerted to the incident at about 7.05am.

The accident occurred along the BKE towards the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) and involved a car and a traffic police motorcycle, said the police.

"A 36-year-old male police officer was conveyed conscious to the hospital. Police investigations are ongoing," the police added.

Video captures aftermath of officer's injury in accident

A video of the aftermath of the accident has been circulating online, showing the traffic police officer seated on the rightmost lane of the expressway.

Another officer can be seen beside him, while debris and a red stain are visible near the road in the aftermath of the accident. The footage also shows a white Mitsubishi sedan with a damaged rear parked ahead of the traffic police officer.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force, they were alerted to the accident along BKE towards PIE after the Mandai Road exit at around 7.05am and conveyed a person to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

The police investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
