Trump's $1.5M presidential limo weighs 20,000 lbs and comes with a fridge of blood

President Donald Trump has set himself apart from his predecessors in many ways, including the fact that he’s the first businessman to lead the U.S. And Trump’s presidential limo is a unique, top-of-the-line Cadillac that weighs 20,000 lbs.

While the Department of Homeland Security first put out a call for contracts for a new presidential vehicle back in 2014, the new armored limo made by General Motors (GM) debuted in the presidential fleet in September 2018. (The presidential limo, nicknamed “The Beast,” has been a Cadillac since the early 1980s.)

Trump’s presidential limo is an updated version of President Barack Obama’s, which rolled out right before his inauguration in 2009. In 2015, Obama described the limo to comedian Jerry Seinfeld as “a Caddy basically on a tank frame” and noted that he “could call a nuclear submarine” from the car’s phone.

Trump’s presidential limo reportedly seats seven people, cost $1,500,000, and has a refrigerator filled with the president’s blood type. NBC reported that the vehicle also has a night-vision system, as well as the ability to emit a smokescreen, fire tear gas, and eject an oil slick for any chasing vehicles. And, whenever the president is traveling, the limo has its own airplane, a C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft, that accompanies him wherever he goes.

“The Beast” also has the ability to dispatch codes to fire nuclear weapons, while remaining vacuum sealed against chemical attacks. An additional “twin” version of the vehicle travels in the motorcade, presumably to confuse potential security threats.

All things considered, Trump’s presidential limo is one of the safer road-legal vehicles on the planet.
